Music!

Happy Friday fuckies!!!

The more I delve into the line up for Sasquatch the more fun I seem to have! Here are this weeks selections! Enjoi!

Soul, Rock, R&B! Staight up boogie music that makes me wanna put on a tight suit with a Peacock feather in my breast pocket and grab the closest woman and shake it! Seriously though I'm serious about the suit, and I am also serious in that I think that these guys are gonna blow up in a big way and I have added them to my must see list..

This will be my first trip to the fabled Sasquatch festival, and in speaking with several veterans of the event I have come to find that in the past there have been very few electronic artists present at the festival. Well it seems that Sasquatch organizers have taken notice of the current trend in popular  music and have booked a ton of amazing EDM artists. Several of the people I am going with are NOT fans of dub-step, funky-breaks or anything electronic. Well I am serving notice to those people, you WILL be attending at least one of these shows with me, and we WILL smash the dance floor!!

Check out the website links I have included above the videos.

Pretty Lights' website is like eating a hit of acid and going on a journey.

The Vintage Trouble website is interesting in that when you navigate to the band bio you will notice that they seem to have sponsors. I found the sponsorship thing curious I think it speaks to the nature of the music business these days, it seems artists are having to work harder than ever to make a buck doing the thing they are passionate about. It also tells me that support for the arts is more important than ever...Then again I've had six shots of espresso...

See you next Friday!

PS If you missed the Chali2na show last night don't fret cuz the full write up will be up later tonight or tomorrow.

Music!!

Happy Friday Fuckers! More specifically happy Sasquatch Friday!

Every Friday from this day forward until the weekend of the festival I am going to fire up music from at least two of the artists preforming. I'm doing it because if you are anything like me you know some of the artists and have no F'n clue about the rest...

I used to love the shit outta these guys! There melancholic ballads suited my, "fuck the world" attitude while I was in college... Cannot wait to see them live and slouch sway with the rest of you!!

Ok I'm really excited for this one in a big way. I have been a fan of this kid for a while now and getting a chance to do some serious #dancefloorsmashn to him gives me goose bumps!!!

Happy reading week to all my loser college friends!!

Check back next Friday for more music!!!

Bullshit

Soap box time my Pretties,

In the past two month the Internet has gone through some fairly tumultuous times. First was the SOPA and PIPA fiasco in the U.S. and now us Canadians are experiencing some of our own cyberspace controversy regarding our online privacy.

Today our Public Safety Minister Vic Teows came a little closer to seeing Bill C-30 become reality. If Bill C-30 is passed would significantly change how government agencies are able to access our online information. As it stands now our phone records, internet habits and cell phone gps are private knowledge, and government agencies such as the RCMP need to attain a court ordered warrant to gain access to this information. Vic and the Conservative government are proposing that government agencies be granted unlimited access to this information via Bill-30, completely circumventing court oversight.

Does anyone else see a problem with this?

This is scary Gestapo shit folks and if you think I'm wrong then let me put it into context for you.

Lets us suppose that Minister Teows' Bill C-30  comes to pass.....

Let us also suppose that some where in the near future it becomes illegal to watch, read or listen to anything using the word "fuck".

The word "fuck" is illegal because the promiscuous nature of the word goes against the current governments ultra conservative stance on sex, drugs and all things awesome.

Using Bill C-30 our  near future government is able to track and read your text messages, read your emails and monitor what you watch online and so on ...

Now lets suppose that the government bides its time, and using Bill C-30 makes a list of all those people who have used the word "fuck"online, or via text, and with that list the government proceeds to arrest everyone on that list....

Ok I'm being a little dramatic, but bad things happen if we let them and Bill C-30 in its current form is a baaaad thing. If you kinda care then read this article by Micheal Geist, it outlines what of shenanigans Teows and the current government are trying to get up to.

Now that you have read Geist's article and are as appalled as I am, its time to write your MP and tell them that you do not like whats going on! Fucking do it, get on your soap box and spew!!  Become apart of the system of checks and balances that prevents any entity within our government from having too much power...

Oh yeah fuck Enbridge too and taxes and errrr, umm is there anyway we can band together and outlaw the Vancouver Canucks and Taylor Swift?

Sleep well my Pretties

Fly Fishing!

In an industry that is dominated by the status quo it is amazing to see someone willing to put their creative spirit to work and let it shine through the dust and the crust.

Things are changing.

Love Fly Fishing Volume One

Enjoy the shit out of this one folks!

I meant to publish this months ago, but apparently I didn't.... Lezzgo!!

Music!

I have been accused of caring too much about things, people, politics and what not, so what follows isn't surprising.

I was having a coffee with an acquaintance today, and some where in our conversation the subject of live music came up, and what I heard was completely shocking.

I had brought up the subject of a show that is scheduled for this evening, and how I hoped that there would be a good crowd. My friendo looked me straight in the eye and said “why would I pay ten bucks to see them when I can just listen to them on Soundcloud?”  My friend was serious and I wanted to deliver a Bruce Lee chop to their neck.

My friends comment has left me reeling, so I guess that I do care too much. I care that good live music keeps coming to my little town, I care that there is a public pottery studio, I even care that there is a movie theatre where I can buy popcorn. It makes me smile know that there are other people out there who care like I do. It makes me smile because without support for our arts, they will fail and we will be stuck with Jersey Shore and YouTube for entertainment.

So to my friendo from this afternoon, I hope your bon bon’s and Hill’s reruns are fun. Oh and here is the Souncloud link for you too, Shake it!
